Symptoms Of Nasal Polyps
Do you have a cold that never seems to go away? Are you experiencing nasal congestion that is not going even after taking some over the counter medications? Well, you could be suffering from the symptoms of nasal polyps, which are non cancerous growths on the lining of your nose. They grow in the inflamed tissue of the lining of your nose. The smaller nasal polyps are not so problematic and will go off even if you undergo certain home remedies. But, if you suffer from larger nasal polyps or cluster of polyps, then they can cause irritation and nose infection that might even lead to breathing difficulty and other serious nasal problems.
Symptoms Of Nasal Polyps
If you have an individual polyp that is particularly large in size then it can cause some symptoms to show up. The common symptoms that you would experience are:
- Runny nose
- Post nasal drip which is mucus running from the back of your nose down your throat
- Snoring
- Blocked nose, which might even cause breathing difficulty and that will force you to breathe through your mouth
- Reduced sense of smell- You will feel as you have lost the sensation of smell that you had earlier and you might even lose your sense of smell and taste completely in severe cases.
Sinus Infections
If there are one or more polyps that develops in and around your sinuses, then there is every chance of fluid and the mucus to build up inside your nose. The sinuses are small air filled cavities that are located on either side of the nose bones. If you suffer an infection on your sinus, then it is known as a sinus infection. The symptoms of sinus infection caused by polyps are:
- A throbbing pain in your face and forehead that becomes more severe when you turn your head.
- Tenderness near the area of the infected sinuses.
- Pain in the jaw when you eat
- Toothache
- High temperature of 100.4ºF.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea
If you are having a very large nasal polyp then it has the tendency to block your airways when you are in sleep. This is what is known as obstructive sleep apnea. Many people with obstructive sleep apnea do not realize that they are having this symptom as they are in deep sleep. But, if you experience interruptions in your sleep and feel tired and drowsy the next day, then these are symptoms of nasal polyps.
